Selecting a Font

As I began writing my own brilliant piece of crappy prose today, I remembered one of the few tidbits rattling around in my brain that may actually be useful.

Most fonts were designed for print and so are not optimal for reading on your computer screen. Verdana and Georgia were created specifically for on-screen legibility, so you may find it more comfortable to compose in one of these. Sans serif fonts (e.g., Verdana) are generally more legible on-screen, but if you prefer serif try Georgia instead of Times New Roman and see how it feels. Other fonts may work just as well, but these two are pretty widely available.
